Welcome to Laroue Laines

Welcome to Laroue Laines, French wool craftsman since 1920

Laroue Laines, located in Mazamet, has been perpetuating a family tradition of wool trading and processing for more than a century. Founded in 1920 by Henri Rouanet, the company is now managed by Laurent Assemat, a passionate person who has devoted more than 30 years to this profession alongside Éric Rouanet. By taking over the company in 2022, Laurent Assemat continues to promote the excellence of French wools.

100% French wool, collected and sorted with care

At Laroue Laines, we collect wool directly from breeders throughout France. This local collection guarantees optimal traceability and a reduced ecological impact. Once brought back to our site in Mazamet, the wool is sorted by hand by experts. This know-how makes it possible to separate the fibers according to their fineness, length and potential use:

Fine fibres : for making soft and comfortable garments.

Cross or coarse fibers : ideal for mattress or carpet.

Long fibres : essential for the strength of the yarns.

Bulky fibers : perfect for duvets and mattress

Each batch of wool is homogenized, packed into bales and ready for further processing steps.

A local and responsible supply chain

The wool sorted in Mazamet continues its journey to Verviers for washing and Tourcoing for combing, then to the Castres/Mazamet region for dyeing and spinning. Laroue Laine promotes local production that replaces imports from Australia or New Zealand, thus offering a more favourable carbon footprint while supporting regional know-how.

A renovated site for a renewed ambition

In 2023, Laurent Assemat acquired and rehabilitated the hangars of the former La Môle factory, a historic place in Mazamet. This project allows Laroue Laine to maintain its activity in the heart of the city while preserving its industrial heritage. The company currently processes 1,000 tonnes of wool per year and aims to double this capacity with the installation of a second press.

Passion and know-how at the service of quality

With a dedicated team of 5 employees, Laroue Laine works every day to produce high quality wools. These products, suitable for various uses, meet the requirements of national and international markets. Today, only 5% of volumes are destined for export, reflecting our commitment to local development.

A commitment to the future: traceability and certification

Laurent Assemat places traceability at the heart of his project, with a certification in progress that will strengthen the confidence of our partners and customers. By focusing on innovation and respect for traditions, Laroue Laines contributes to a sustainable and responsible wool industry.
